From a lifesaving float to independent swimming, stroke development, and swim team preparation, ISR Austin builds confident, capable swimmers from the very beginning.
Our individualized, one-on-one instruction meets each child exactly where they are, building skills progressively, safely, and at their own pace.
More Than Swim Lessons.
Skills for Life.
THE ISR AUSTIN DIFFERENCE
Self-Rescue Is Just the Beginning.
Every child begins by developing the skills needed to save themselves should they ever reach the water alone.
As children grow and their skills advance, we continue building on that foundation, progressing from self-rescue to independent swimming, stroke development, and swim team prep.
One program.
One foundation.
Skills that grow with your child.
-

Self-Rescue
For our youngest students, survival starts with the ability to independently roll back, find the surface, and maintain a safe, floating position until help arrives.
Lessons focus on breath control, proper floating posture, and the ability to maintain this life-saving position without assistance.
As children become developmentally ready, their skills progress beyond the float into swimming and the full swim-float–swim sequence.
-

Independent Swim
Once a child has mastered a strong, independent float, we begin connecting those self-rescue skills with purposeful swimming.
Students learn proper breath control and swimming posture while developing the ability to independently swim, roll back to a float and rest, then return to swimming until they reach safety.
The result isn't simply a child who is more comfortable in the water—it's a child who knows what to do in it.
-
Beyond Self-Rescue
For many swim programs, independent self-rescue is the finish line. For ISR Austin, it's the foundation.
Once students master their age-appropriate self-rescue skills, we continue developing strong, efficient, confident swimmers.
Depending on the child's age, ability, and goals, instruction will progress into independent swimming, stroke development, and swim team preparation.
-

Maintain & Refresh
Children grow quickly, and their bodies, strength, coordination, and relationship with the water change along with them.
Refresher and maintenance lessons allow ISR graduates to adapt previously learned skills to their growing bodies while strengthening and advancing their aquatic abilities.
Semi-annual refreshers are strongly encouraged, with year-round maintenance lessons available for families wanting to further skills.
At ISR Austin, confidence isn't some thing we ask children to have before they're ready. It’s something they build through experience.
As children master new skills, learn with their bodies can do in the water, and discover that they can handle changes independently, confidence flows naturally. With individualized instruction, encouragement, and plenty of celebration along the way, we help children become not only safer swimmers but capable, confident kids who genuinely love the water.
Confidence Built on Capability
Whether your child is learning to float for the first time, working on becoming an independent swimmer, returning for a refresher, or they’re ready to take their swimming to the next level with beginning strokes and swim team prep, we're here to build whatever skill come next.
